Conceptual Cards - Characteristics of Living Things On Safari

The conceptual images have been developed as a tool to promote conceptual discussion amongst students. Each card is connected to a concept and provides an opportunity for students to build on their current understanding of the concept. However, there is scope to use the images for other concept discussion that you might identify. 


Each set of concept cards comes with ‘Tips For How To Use Them’ as well as questions educators can ask to promote student engagement and thinking. 


We have developed 3 sets of cards for each concept to allow flexibility in how you may want to use them with students. 

They are:

1 image  per card

2 images per card

4 images per card


For example: you may want to use one image or two images per card to present to the class via technology to promote discussion. Or you may want to print out the 2 or 4 images per card so that students can manipulate, sort or organise the cards. This flexibility enables educators to consider the different ways they may engage students with them.
